A Crimson Tide Fan is like no other fan you will ever meet. And I am a Tide fan. It goes way back. To another generation, several generations ago. My Grandfather, Frank Bruce, was the VOICE of the TIDE. His picture hangs in the Paul Bryant Museum on the University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa. I have always been so proud to say that!
In the 1930s, a sweet young woman fell in love with a handsome young New Yorker when he came into the Kress' lunch counter on a visit to downtown Tuscaloosa. The man said to his friend, "I'm gonna marry that girl..." and she convinced him to move to Alabama for Law School. In the 1980s, a sweet young girl moved to New York to intern at CNN while in her junior year at Alabama. She met a yankee and convinced him to move back "home" with her. They graduated from Alabama together. The former Southern Belle was my grandmother. The latter Southern Belle was me. My family has been sharing our love for The University of Alabama for nearly 100 years! It's who I am, and it's as genuine as Dream Land BBQ, and Houndstooth Hats!
